S'mores Magic Bars
Description
S'mores Magic Bars begin with a base of crushed graham crackers mixed with sugar and melted butter pressed into a pan to form a crisp crust. The signature layer of sweetened condensed milk is poured over, binding the oats and chocolate chips distributed in layers above the crust. Baking melts the cheese components into a chewy, sweet interior.
After the initial bake, mini marshmallows are added and baked briefly to melt and become pillowy. A final layer of large marshmallows is browned under a broiler just until toasted and golden. This creates a caramelized, lightly crisp top layer that mimics campfire s'mores while maintaining the gooey bar underneath.
Allowing the bars to cool fully before cutting keeps them intact for serving. The added crushed graham crackers on top introduce extra texture variety. The bars store well in an airtight container at room temperature for several days, making them a convenient treat that captures the nostalgic flavors of s'mores in a portable form.
Ingredients
- 18 graham crackers (divided)
- 1 TBS sugar
- 6 TBS butter melted, unsalted
- 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup old fashioned oats
- 1 cup chocolate chips semi-sweet
- 2 cups mini marshmallows
- 15 large marshmallows
- 3 chocolate candy bars
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F and line a 9"x13" glass baking pan with parchment paper.
- Crush about 15 whole graham crackers into a bowl and mix with sugar. Then add the melted butter and stir until you have a nice crumbly mixture. Press the graham cracker mixture into the prepared pan, spreading it around to cover the bottom of the pan.
- Drizzle the sweetened condensed milk over the crust and spread evenly.
- Layer half the chocolate chips over the crust, then the oats, then the remaining chocolate chips and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and sprinkle with mini marshmallows. Then bake for another 4-5 minutes.
- Place 15 large marshmallows on top of the melted marshmallows.
- Turn the oven to a low broil then place the pan in the oven and broil for about 1 minute or until marshmallows just start to brown. Be sure to watch because they will brown very quickly.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 30 minutes.
- Top with remaining crushed graham crackers and chocolate bar pieces then allow to cool an additional 30 minutes.
- Use the parchment paper to remove from the pan then cut into squares. Top with remaining piece of chocolate bar if desired.
Notes
- Cool bars completely before cutting to maintain clean edges and prevent crumbling.
- Store bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days to retain freshness.
- Watch the marshmallows closely when broiling, as they brown rapidly and can burn.
