S'mores Puppy Chow
Description
S'mores Puppy Chow is a snack mix made by melting mini marshmallows and butter, then blending in peanut butter and semi-sweet chocolate chips. This warm mixture is folded with Chex cereal and crushed Golden Grahams to capture the classic s'mores flavors in a crunchy, sweet-coated snack. After coating the cereal with powdered sugar by tossing in a bag, the mixture is refrigerated to set the coating.
The final result is a textured blend of crunchy cereal with pockets of sweet melted chocolate and sticky marshmallow, balanced by the powdered sugar dusting. It offers a playful take on the traditional s'mores dessert but in a grab-and-go snack form that doesn’t require roasting marshmallows over a fire.
This snack can be stored in a sealed container at room temperature for several days or refrigerated if a cooler treat is preferred. It’s suitable for sharing at gatherings or as a casual sweet treat at home.
To make a nut-free version, peanut butter can be replaced with extra chocolate chips or omitted. When storing, avoid crushing the mix by using airtight containers like Tupperware.
Ingredients
- 3 cups Chex cereal
- 1 cup golden grahams crushed
- 3 cups mini marshmallows roughly ⅔ of a bag
- ½ cup chocolate chips semi-sweet
- 2 tbsp peanut butter
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 ½ cup powdered sugar
Instructions
- In a sauce pan on low-medium heat, combine the mini marshmallows and butter. Stir until well combined.
- Remove the pan from heat and add in the peanut butter and chocolate chips. Stir until the chocolate is completely melted.
- Fold in the Chex cereal in 1 cup increments; then fold in the crushed Golden Grahams.
- In the plastic storage bag, add in 1 cup of powdered sugar. Add Marshmellow Chex mixture to the bag.
- Ensure the plastic bag is sealed and toss mixture around until powdered sugar is evenly dispersed and the chex are coated. This is where you will be able to determine if you need more powdered sugar - if you still see areas of exposed chocolate and chex, add more at ½ intervals.
- Refridgerate for 1 hour prior to enjoying. Enjoy!!
Notes
- Replace peanut butter with chocolate chips or omit it to make a nut-free version.
- Store the mix in its sealed bag or a Tupperware container to maintain freshness and prevent crushing.
- Shelf life is 3-5 days stored at room temperature or refrigerated if preferred chilled.
