Snack Bars

This snack bar recipe combines pretzels, Chex cereal, M&Ms, and chocolate chips, all coated in a melted mixture of butter, peanut butter, and mini marshmallows. Once mixed and pressed into a pan, the bars firm up with a chewy, sweet, and salty flavor profile. They’re convenient for casual snacking and can be cut into portions once cooled.

Description

The bars incorporate crunchy pretzel pieces and Chex cereal mixed with colorful M&Ms and chocolate chips, providing texture and bursts of chocolate and peanut butter candy flavor. The binding agent is a homemade marshmallow sauce made by melting butter and creamy peanut butter, then stirring in mini marshmallows until smooth. This sticky, sweet coating evenly covers the dry ingredients.

After mixing, the mixture is firmly pressed into a lined 9x13-inch pan and refrigerated until completely cooled and firm. This chilling step solidifies the bars, allowing clean cutting and portability. The balance of salty pretzels, crunchy cereal, and sweet chocolate and marshmallow creates a versatile treat that appeals to many tastes.

Different varieties of Chex, chocolate chips, and M&Ms can be used to customize the flavor and texture according to preference, offering flexibility in this snack bar base.
