Snickerdoodle Bars

Snickerdoodle Bars combine the classic flavors of cinnamon and sugar atop a soft, buttery bar. The dough is pressed into a pan and sprinkled with cinnamon sugar before baking, resulting in a tender base with a crackly, cinnamon-scented crust reminiscent of traditional snickerdoodle cookies but in an easy-to-cut bar form.

Description

This recipe uses a mixture of butter and shortening creamed with granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Flour is combined with cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt, creating the distinctive snickerdoodle texture and slight tang. The dough is evenly pressed into a greased 9x13-inch pan, then topped with a cinnamon and sugar mixture which bakes into a lightly crisp topping.

The bars bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit until just set, ensuring a soft, chewy interior with a slightly crunchy top. Cooling before slicing helps achieve clean-cut bars that retain their shape. These bars offer the flavor and aroma of snickerdoodle cookies in a convenient pan-baked format.

The bars freeze well, maintaining texture and flavor for an extended period. Thaw to room temperature before serving for best results.
