Snowball Cookies

Report
Snowball Cookies are buttery, tender balls enriched with finely chopped nuts and vanilla, baked to a delicate golden finish and rolled in powdered sugar for a snowy appearance. Their texture is soft and crumbly, combining nutty flavors and subtle sweetness, making them a recognizable and comforting cookie choice during holidays or as a sweet snack. They hold their shape during baking and are coated after cooling for a clean, sugary exterior.

Description

These cookies start by finely chopping almonds or pecans to ensure they distribute evenly through the dough, providing crunch without overpowering. The dough combines butter creamed with salt and powdered sugar, then nuts, vanilla, and flour, forming a soft ball. Shaping each cookie into small halves-to-three-quarter inch balls allows for even baking at a lower temperature of 325°F to prevent browning.

Once baked and cooled, the cookies are rolled in additional powdered sugar to achieve the characteristic snowy coating. This final step adds sweetness and a slightly crisp outer layer contrasting with the moist, buttery interior. The flavor profile is simple but satisfying, with the vanilla and nuts enhancing the cookie’s richness.

These cookies are ideal for enjoying with tea or coffee and can be made with ingredients easily available in most kitchens.
