Sour Cream Raisin Pie
Description
This pie starts by soaking raisins briefly in boiling water to soften them before mixing with sour cream, sugar, flour, vinegar, salt, and warm spices like ground cloves and cinnamon. The mixture is poured into a raw pie crust and baked first at a higher temperature to set the filling, then lowered to finish cooking through without overbrowning. The vinegar adds a subtle tang that complements the sweetness and spices.
Once cooled, this pie can be served as a traditional dessert, offering a comforting blend of creamy and spiced elements. Its raisin content provides bursts of sweetness throughout the smooth custard.
