Sour Cream Rice Recipe

This Sour Cream Rice blends cooked long grain rice with chicken broth, creamy sour cream, green chiles, corn, and shredded Monterey Jack cheese for mild spiced richness. Baked in an 8x8 pan and topped with fresh cilantro, the dish combines tender, creamy textures with subtle heat and a fresh herbal note from the cilantro. The casserole style makes it a comforting side or light meal option, particularly suited for those who enjoy a cheesy, slightly tangy rice dish.

Description

The Sour Cream Rice Recipe features long grain rice cooked in chicken broth, infused with green chiles and sweet corn to add subtle flavor and texture contrasts. After simmering, the rice is mixed with sour cream, cheese, garlic salt, and cilantro and then baked until the cheese melts and forms a gentle crust on top. This cooking method results in a warm, creamy, and mildly spicy rice casserole that holds shape while remaining soft inside.

The creamy sour cream and melted Monterey Jack cheese give the rice a luscious mouthfeel, complemented by the corn’s pop and bright cilantro garnish. Suitable as a side dish, it pairs well with grilled meats or beans or can be enjoyed on its own for a filling vegetarian meal.
