Sour Patch Grapes
Description
This recipe transforms simple grapes into a tangy treat by rolling wet grapes in dry lime gelatin powder, such as lime Jell-O. After washing and de-stemming, the grapes are coated while still damp, which helps the powder stick. Placing them to dry on a cooling rack over a baking sheet allows airflow, preventing sogginess. Refrigerating them for at least an hour or overnight sets the coating, resulting in grapes with a crisp, sour exterior and juicy center. This method requires minimal ingredients and preparation but yields a fun, snackable fruit with a candy-like finish.
The tart lime powder provides a bright citrus flavor that complements natural grape sweetness, making these suitable for parties or as a unique dessert snack.
Ingredients
- 1 pound grapes green or red
- 3 ounces lime gelatin dessert or Jell-O of choice
Instructions
- Remove all the grapes from the stems and wash.
- Pour Jello powder into a small bowl
- While the grapes are still wet, roll them in the dry jello powder (the powder will stick to the grapes).
- Place on a cooling rack on top of a baking sheet and place in the fridge to dry at least one hour or overnight.
