Southwestern Ground Turkey Casserole Recipe

This Southwestern Ground Turkey Casserole combines lean ground turkey with cooked brown rice, diced green chiles, tomatoes, salsa, black beans, and corn, layered in a baking dish with a sprinkle of Monterey Jack cheese. Seasoned with cumin, chili powder, and paprika, it creates a flavorful, hearty entrée with a Southwesterly flair. It's baked gently to meld flavors and heat through.

Description

The casserole builds on a base of sautéed ground turkey and onions, flavored with common southwestern spices including cumin, chili powder, and paprika. Adding garlic, cooked brown rice, canned diced green chiles and tomatoes, salsa, black beans, and corn integrates layers of textures and regional flavors. Cilantro adds fresh brightness near the end of mixing.

Transferred to a baking dish and topped with Monterey Jack cheese, the casserole bakes until heated through and the cheese melts, creating a comforting, slightly creamy finish on top. It delivers a blend of savory, mildly spicy, and fresh tastes along with varying textures from beans, corn, and rice.

This dish can be served as a main course for lunch or dinner and pairs well with simple green sides or a fresh salad. The lean turkey and hearty vegetables balance to provide satisfying protein and fiber content.
