Soy Braised Onion

Soy braised onion recipe requires only a few ingredients. The onion is cooked slowly in soy sauce until soft and sweet. Serve with rice.

Ingredients

  • 2 onions sliced in 1/2" thickness, Vidalia
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 tbsp water
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp corn syrup optional, Korean, mulyeot
  • 2 tsp sesame seeds toasted

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over med-low heat, add onions and stir for 2 minutes until slightly soft.
  2. Add water and soy sauce, continue to cook until the onions are very soft and the liquid in a skillet is almost disappeared. Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds. Serve with rice.

Notes

  • If you are using yellow onion instead of Vidalia onion, add 1 teaspoon of sugar as you cook.
