Spaghetti Pie
Description
This Spaghetti Pie is made by first browning ground beef with onions, then simmering with pasta sauce to combine flavors. Separately, cooked spaghetti is tossed while warm with butter, parmesan cheese, and beaten eggs to bind it together into a crust-like layer pressed into a greased deep dish pie plate.
A layer of ricotta cheese spreads over the spaghetti crust before pouring the beef and sauce mixture inside. Baking solidifies the structure and blends the components. Finally, shredded mozzarella is added near the end of baking to melt and provide a cohesive cheesy topping.
The resulting dish is a unique way to present pasta and meat sauce together, resembling a firm casserole or pie with distinct layers of savory, creamy, and cheesy textures. After baking, letting the pie set before slicing helps maintain its shape for serving.
Cottage cheese can be used as a substitute for ricotta cheese.Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 to 6 days.
