Spiced Paneer Wraps

Report
Spiced Paneer Wraps combine marinated paneer cubes cooked until they develop crispy edges with a fresh mix of lettuce, cucumber, and radish. The wraps gain a balance of creamy mint yogurt and sweet mango chutney spread inside whole wheat tortillas. The paneer is seasoned with tikka paste, offering a spiced profile that complements the cooling ingredients. This recipe provides a balanced wrap with varied flavors and textures, ideal for a light meal or packed lunch.

Description

Spiced Paneer Wraps feature paneer marinated in tikka paste, then pan-cooked until the cubes have crispy edges. These are layered onto whole wheat tortillas that have a base of sweet mango chutney. Fresh lettuce, crisp cucumber, and radish salad add crunch and freshness. A drizzle of mint yogurt sauce adds creaminess and a light herbal note that contrasts with the warm spices of the paneer. The wrap combines creamy, spicy, sweet, and crunchy elements to create a balanced flavor and texture.

The paneer is cooked in olive oil over a moderate heat to achieve the right crispness without burning. The layered ingredients make a filling yet fresh wrap suitable for a midday meal. The use of whole wheat tortillas adds a wholesome component.

This recipe works well for those wanting a vegetarian wrap with an Indian-inspired flavor profile. It can be paired with rice or chickpeas to add bulk, or the wraps can serve as light, portable meals.

Variations include substituting fresh mint in the yogurt sauce or using tofu instead of paneer to make it vegan. Flatbreads can also replace the tortillas. The radish salad can be replaced with coleslaw using the mint yogurt instead of mayonnaise for a complementary flavor.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 100 g paneer cut into cubes
  • 2 tablespoon tikka paste
  • 50 g PLAIN yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon mint sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 whole wheat tortillas wraps
  • 2 tablespoon mango chutney
  • 1 little gem lettuce shredded
  • 1 portion cucumber for salad
  • 1 portion radish for salad

Instructions

  1. Mix 100 g Paneer with 2 tablespoon Tikka paste. Cover and leave to marinade for 30 minutes.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon Olive oil in a pan over a medium heat. Add the marinated paneer and cook until the edges become crispy (about 5 minutes), making sure to cook every cube on each side.
  3. Mix 50 g Plain yogurt and 1 tablespoon Mint sauce together.
  4. Make the wrap by first spreading 2 tablespoon Mango chutney over 2 Whole wheat tortilla wraps. Add 1 Little gem lettuce, 1 portion Cucumber and radish salad and the paneer. Finish with a drizzle of the mint yogurt.

Notes

  • Marinate paneer for at least 30 minutes to enhance flavor penetration.
  • Cook paneer cubes on moderate heat to develop crispy edges without burning.
  • Use fresh mint in the yogurt sauce for a brighter herbal taste if preferred over mint sauce.
  • Substitute tofu for paneer to make a vegan-friendly version.
  • Flatbreads can be used instead of tortillas for a different texture and presentation.
  • If skipping radish salad, mint yogurt coleslaw is a suitable alternative accompaniment.
  • Adding rice or chickpeas can make the wraps more filling if desired.
