Description
Spicy & Crispy Chickpeas transform canned chickpeas into a crisp and spicy snack through a two-step baking process. First, the chickpeas are baked alone to dry them out, which is crucial for crispiness. After 30 minutes, they are tossed with olive oil, chili powder, and salt, then baked again to develop a crunchy exterior evenly coated with spice. The chili powder adds a mild heat that complements the chickpeas' nutty flavor, while olive oil helps the seasoning stick and crisps the surface. Once cooled, these chickpeas offer a handy, flavorful snack or a crunchy topping to enhance other dishes.
Ingredients
- 2 oz cooked chickpeas canned
- 1 tsp olive oil
- ¼ tsp chili powder
- kosher salt or sea salt, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
- Drain and rinse chickpeas. Place on a baking pan making sure to do a single layer.
- Bake for 30 minutes shaking the pan a few times throughout. Take out of oven and toss them with the oil, salt and chili.
- Bake for another 30 minutes shaking the tray a few times during this cooking time.
- Let cool before storing and eating.
