Spicy Honey Garlic Scallops

Spicy Honey Garlic Scallops are seared to a golden brown and coated with a sticky, sweet-and-spicy sauce made with honey, soy sauce, sriracha, and garlic. The marinated scallops carry a balance of heat and sweetness, while the butter used in cooking adds richness. These scallops offer a tender texture with a caramelized exterior, creating an appealing main or appetizer that highlights bold, layered flavors.

Description

The dish starts by marinating scallops in a mixture of soy sauce, honey, sriracha, and minced garlic for 30 minutes to infuse flavor. Scallops are then pan-seared in butter over medium-high heat until golden on each side, approximately 3 minutes per side, ensuring a slightly crisp exterior with a tender interior.

After removing the scallops, the remaining marinade is cooked down in the pan over low heat to thicken into a glaze. The scallops are returned to the pan to be coated in this spicy-sweet sauce, enhancing their natural sweetness with sticky, well-balanced flavor.

This recipe produces scallops with a glossy, flavorful coating and a satisfying combination of heat and sweetness, suitable for elegant dinners or flavorful appetizers. The cooking method ensures scallops remain moist, and the sauce provides a layered taste experience combining savory, sweet, and spicy notes.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 600 grams scallops
  • 2/3 cup soy sauce
  • 2/3 cup honey
  • 5 tbsp sriracha
  • 6 tbsp garlic
  • 2 tbsp butter

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine your soy sauce, honey, sriracha, and minced garlic together. Mix throughly and pour half a bag or container with your scallops to marinate. Let the scallops marinate for 30 minutes.
  2. Once ready, in a cast iron (or non-stick pan of your choice), on medium to high heat, add some butter or oil of choice and then add your scallops. Let the scallops cook for around three minutes. Turn the scallops over and cook until golden – around 2 minutes.
  3. Remove the scallops and set them aside and add the rest of the marinade into the pan, stirring on low heat, letting the sauce thicken. Once the sauce has thicken, add the scallops back into the pan to coat them or pour the sauce directly onto the scallops.
