Spicy Michelada Recipe

The Spicy Michelada is a refreshing cocktail blending clamato juice, fresh lime juice, Worcestershire sauce, Sriracha, chili powder, and Mexican lager beer. Served over ice with a salted, spiced rim, it offers a spicy, tangy, and effervescent drink ideal for warm weather or casual gatherings.

Description

This recipe combines clamato or Bloody Mary mix with lime juice, Worcestershire sauce, Sriracha, and chili powder to create a spiced savory base. The mixture is poured over ice in glasses rimmed with honey and a coarse salt-spice blend, adding texture and flavor.

Mexican lager beer is then added and lightly stirred, giving the drink carbonation that balances the brightness and heat. The lime wedges in the bottom of the glass intensify the citrus aroma with each sip. The drink can be topped up with extra beer as desired.

The recipe suggests making the spiced Bloody Mary base in advance and storing it refrigerated. The beer is added just before serving to keep the carbonation fresh. The salted and spiced rim enhances the flavor experience with a contrasting savory kick.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 16 ounces clamato or Bloody Mary Mix
  • 2 lager beer 12 ounces each, Mexican
  • 1/4 cup lime juice fresh
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Sriracha sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder

Instructions

  1. In a pitcher, mix the Clamato juice, fresh lime juice, Worchestershire, Sriracha, and chili powder.
  2. Place the squeezed limes in the bottom of 4 glasses then fill with ice. Pour the Clamato mixture evenly into the glasses.
  3. Pour the Mexican beer over the Clamato mixture and stir. Top with additional beer if needed. Serve cold.

Notes

  • Prepare the spiced Bloody Mary mix one or two days ahead and keep it refrigerated in a sealed container.
  • To rim glasses, dip them first in a honey-water syrup, then coat with coarse salt mixed with chili powder for a spicy salt rim.
  • Add the beer only after pouring the clamato mixture into individual glasses to preserve carbonation.
