Spooky Faced Halloween Apple Pie

This Spooky Faced Halloween Apple Pie combines classic apple pie filling enclosed in a traditional double pie crust, topped with a playful design cut into the top crust. The crust bakes to a golden brown with a hint of sweetness from a brown sugar and milk egg wash, creating a crisp, slightly caramelized exterior. The filling becomes bubbly and tender through baking, making this pie both festive and flavorful for fall gatherings or Halloween celebrations.

Description

The Spooky Faced Halloween Apple Pie uses a two-disk pie crust with a standard canned apple filling. The base crust is pressed into a 9-inch dish, filled evenly, then topped with a second crust that features cut-out shapes for eyes, nose, and mouth to create a spooky face. The egg wash made of milk and brown sugar brushed on the top crust adds sweetness and helps achieve a shiny, golden finish. The pie is baked at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for about 40 to 45 minutes until the crust is browned and the filling bubbles through the cutouts.

The texture contrasts between the flaky crust and the soft, warm apple filling. The pie is suitable for fall or Halloween festivities, providing a themed dessert option with a classic apple pie taste and festive presentation.

Before serving, the pie should be allowed to cool slightly to let the filling set, which also enhances sliceability and prevents burns. This pie focuses on visual appeal with minimal preparation beyond a standard apple pie.
