Starbucks Brownies
Description
Starbucks Brownies use a straightforward batter made from melted butter, sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, cocoa powder, flour, and salt. Incorporating semi-sweet chocolate chips both inside the batter and on top creates pockets of molten chocolate throughout the baked brownies. Baking in a parchment-lined 8x8 inch pan at 350°F for about 25-30 minutes results in brownies that are moist and tender but with enough structure to hold their shape when sliced. After baking, cooling on a wire rack for two hours allows the brownies to firm up properly.
The texture is a balanced fudgy and cakey brownie, with rich chocolate flavor from the cocoa powder and chocolate chips. It achieves a slightly crisp top thanks to the melted butter and sugar combination while maintaining moistness inside. The use of a toothpick to check doneness avoids overbaking and keeps the brownies soft.
This recipe is good for making a batch of familiar, well-textured brownies suitable for snacks, desserts, or sharing. The addition of chocolate chips on top adds visual appeal and extra chocolate taste. They store well in an airtight container for up to a week, maintaining freshness.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter melted & cooled to room temperature, unsalted
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 egg large
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder unsweetened
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 cups chocolate chips Divided, semi-sweet
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and line an 8X8 baking dish with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, stir together the melted butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla extract. Then add in the cocoa powder and stir until it’s fully combined.
- Then stir in the flour and salt and stir until just combined. Be careful to not over mix.
- Then fold in 1 1/2 cups of the chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the baking dish. Gently tap the baking dish on the counter to level the batter in the pan.
- Sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips evenly on top and gently press them down into the batter.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean (make sure it’s not inserted into a chocolate chip).
- Cool the brownies on a wire rack for 2 hours before cutting them and serving them.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container to keep them fresh for up to one week.
