Strawberry Ladybugs
Description
This recipe transforms fresh strawberries and blueberries into charming ladybug shapes. The process involves cutting a small V-shaped notch at the top of the halved strawberries to create a pocket for the blueberry "head." Dark chocolate chips are melted and transferred to a piping bag, used both to attach the blueberries to the strawberries and to draw decorative legs and antennae on the plate.
The chocolate sets hard on cooling, holding the components together and adding bittersweet flavor to the naturally sweet and juicy berries. The treat requires no baking and is simple to assemble, making it suitable for children's parties or themed snacks.
Chocolate decoration on the plate enhances the visual effect and adds a whimsical touch. Allowing the chocolate to fully harden before serving ensures the ladybugs keep their shape.
Ingredients
- 1 lb strawberries
- 1/2 cup blueberries
- 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
Instructions
- Remove the tops of the strawberries by cutting a small V-shape (this will leave a nice little pocket to attach their "heads"). Cut strawberries in half lengthwise.
- Melt chocolate in microwave safe bowl or according to instructions on package. Scoop into a disposable piping bag and cut off the corner.
- Squeeze small dots of chocolate onto the strawberries. Use chocolate to attach the blueberry "head." Use chocolate to draw legs and antennae on the serving plate.
- Allow chocolate to harden before enjoying.
