Description

This Strawberry Tiramisu Trifle combines fresh strawberries with layers of ladyfingers dipped in coffee, mascarpone cheese blended with instant vanilla pudding, and whipped cream. The ladyfingers absorb coffee to provide a soft, flavorful base, while the mascarpone and pudding mixture offers a smooth, creamy layer enhanced with a slight coffee flavor from added brewed coffee. Grated or shaved bittersweet chocolate adds a subtle bitterness and decorative touch.

The trifle is built in layers—ladyfingers, sliced strawberries, chocolate, and mascarpone cream—repeated three times before chilling for several hours or overnight to allow the flavors and textures to integrate. The final dessert is vibrant with fresh fruit, creamy in texture, and balanced by the coffee-soaked sponge and bittersweet chocolate.

  • 1 quart strawberry 4 cups, fresh
  • cups milk cold
  • 3.4 ounce instant vanilla pudding mix (1 package)
  • 8 ounce mascarpone cheese
  • 2 cups instant coffee or brewed coffee, room temperature
  • 2 cups Cool Whip or whipped cream
  • 3 ounce ladyfingers
  • 6 ounce bittersweet chocolate grated or shaved

Instructions

  1. Set aside one strawberry for garnish; slice the remaining strawberries, stems removed.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk milk and pudding mix for 2 minutes. Refrigerate for 2 minutes.
  3. In a mixing bowl, beat mascarpone cheese until smooth; gradually beat in 2 tablespoons coffee. Beat in pudding. Fold in cool whip.
  4. Dip lady fingers in coffee on both sides, as you're layering, don't dip ahead of time. Line the bottom of a 3-qt. trifle or glass serving bowl with a third of the ladyfingers. Top with a third of the sliced strawberries, grated chocolate and mascarpone mixture.
  5. Repeat, creating 3 layers of each, finishing off with the mascarpone cream and shaved chocolate.
  6. Garnish with a strawberry on top.
  7. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.

Notes

  • Keep garnish strawberries separate until serving to preserve their texture and appearance.
  • Vanilla pudding can be swapped for your preferred flavor, which will alter the trifle's taste accordingly.
  • For an adult twist, soak ladyfingers in coffee liquor, dark rum, or sweet sparkling wine instead of coffee.
  • Refrigerate covered for up to three days; avoid freezing to prevent soggy ladyfingers.
