String Beans with Garlic and Oil
Description
This String Beans with Garlic and Oil recipe uses fresh string beans that are steamed until just tender but still crisp. Steaming helps preserve the beans' natural snap and minimizes nutrient loss. Thinly sliced garlic is cooked in extra virgin olive oil until golden, imparting a mellow garlic fragrance to the oil. Tossing the steamed beans in the garlic oil coating, seasoned with salt and pepper, brings a gentle savory accent to the dish. The cooking process avoids browning the beans while ensuring they are cooked through.
The result is a warm vegetable side dish with a subtle garlic and olive oil flavor pairing well with grilled meats, fish, or as part of a vegetable medley. The method highlights fresh ingredients with minimal seasoning, making it a light complement on any plate. This dish can be served immediately to enjoy the crisp texture and fresh taste of the beans.
