Sugar Cookie Frosting Recipe

This Sugar Cookie Frosting is a smooth, creamy icing made from shortening, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla. It can be colored with food coloring to decorate sugar cookies and has a texture that is easy to pipe or spread. Adjusting the powdered sugar and milk allows customizing the thickness for different decorating needs.

Description

The Sugar Cookie Frosting Recipe uses shortening whipped with powdered sugar, vanilla extract, salt, and milk to create a sweet, fluffy icing. Starting with creamed shortening, sugar is added incrementally with milk to balance the consistency, producing a versatile frosting. The addition of food coloring allows for a variety of decorative options suited for cookies or other baked goods. This frosting holds its shape well when piped and spreads smoothly.

The result is a sweet, moderately thick frosting with a pleasant vanilla flavor and a texture that balances softness and stability. This makes it suitable for detailed cookie decorating or simple coating of sugar cookies. The recipe's flexibility lets users adjust the texture toward thicker or thinner based on decorating preference.

This frosting is primarily intended for sugar cookies but can be applied to other desserts needing a stable, sweet topping. Because it uses shortening instead of butter, it maintains consistency across various temperatures and holds its form after application.
