Instructions

  1. Rinse cranberries in colander under tap water. Keep aside.
  2. Next we make simple syrup to soak the cranberries into it. To make syrup, combine half cup of water with ½ cup of sugar in sauce pan. Bring water to boil, keep stirring and continue to boil until sugar is completely dissolved in water.
  3. Stir in cranberries into the sauce pan. Make sure all the cranberries are completely coated in syrup.
  4. Using slotted spoon remove the cranberries from sauce pan into a wire rack or tray and let them dry for about an hour.Pro-Tip : Do not rush. Let the coating on the cranberries dry completely. Use a wire rack so the cranberries do not have their bottom still soggy and wet later.
  5. After an hour, cranberries will be dry but sticky with the simple syrup coating on it. Fill up a bowl with granulated white sugar. Take few cranberries at a time and drop them in sugar. Roll to ensure every cranberry is coated evenly in sugar. Shake off excess sugar and remove it on to a tray to dry for about an hour. Repeat the process for all cranberries.
  6. When completely dried store in air tight containers.

Notes

  • I was in a hurry to shoot. I did not leave cranberries to dry enough and they aren't neat enough with sugar coating because of that(what you see in the photos). Sugared cranberries actually turn up pretty neat if you allow it to dry after coating with simple syrup, and after coating with sugar. DON'T RUSH.
