Sweet Potato Turkey Meatloaf
Description
Sweet Potato Turkey Meatloaf combines mashed sweet potato with ground turkey, egg, and spices to make a moist and flavorful loaf. The sweet potato contributes moisture and a subtle sweetness, while the marjoram and dried onion flakes add depth to the seasoning. The meatloaf is baked uncovered and topped with a ketchup-based sauce mixed with Worcestershire sauce to provide a savory glaze. After baking, resting it helps the loaf firm up for easier slicing and serving.
The method involves mashing cooked sweet potato, then mixing with turkey, egg, dried onion, ketchup, marjoram, and salt. It is shaped into a loaf, topped with a ketchup and Worcestershire sauce mixture, and baked for just under an hour at 350°F. The result is a balanced blend of tender ground turkey and soft mashed sweet potato with a tangy exterior.
This meatloaf pairs well with vegetables or a side salad and serves as a comforting main dish. It can be sliced and reused in sandwiches or reheated for leftovers.
If fresh baked sweet potato isn't available, microwaving a pierced sweet potato wrapped in a paper towel for 4 to 6 minutes is a quick alternative. Allow the loaf to rest five minutes after baking to set.
