Tangy Mexican Coleslaw
Description
Tangy Mexican Coleslaw brings together shredded cabbage mix with thinly sliced red onion and chopped cilantro to form a fresh vegetable base. The dressing incorporates canola oil blended with freshly squeezed lime juice and pressed garlic, enhanced by honey for a touch of sweetness. Ground cumin, oregano, and coriander contribute an earthy spice note, while dashes of hot sauce add a mild heat. Tossing the salad well and refrigerating it for at least 30 minutes helps the flavors integrate and the vegetables soften slightly without losing their crispness.
The result is a lively and slightly spicy cold salad that delivers both texture and refreshing acidity. It's suitable as a side for grilled meats or as a topping for tacos and other Mexican-inspired dishes. The combination of lime and garlic in the dressing gives it characteristic brightness and subtle pungency.
The recipe suggests consuming the coleslaw on the same day for optimal freshness, but it can be refrigerated overnight if needed. Chilling enhances the flavor meld but extended storage might reduce crispness.
