Teriyaki Pork Sloppy Joes
Description
Teriyaki Pork Sloppy Joes mix ground pork with a blend of teriyaki and hoisin sauces, balancing sweetness and umami. The addition of minced carrot and garlic builds flavor depth while the meat cooks until well browned in a skillet. A cornstarch slurry thickens the sauce, coating the pork with a glossy finish. Served inside warm brioche buns, the filling is rich yet tender. Optional toppings like thin-sliced cucumber and scallions bring crispness and mild sharpness to complement the savory pork.
The method involves sautéing carrot in oil until softened, then browning garlic and pork before combining the liquids and thickener. After simmering briefly to reduce the sauce, the mixture is spooned onto toasted buns. This approach yields a sandwich with robust flavor concentrated in every bite.
This dish can be part of casual dinners or weekend meals. The brioche buns’ slight sweetness pairs with the salty-sweet pork mixture, and fresh garnishes lighten the texture. It’s suited as a filling meal or for casual gatherings where handheld food is preferred.
Using finely minced carrot integrates sweetness and texture without overpowering. The sauce reduces to thicken in just a few minutes, so constant stirring is key to avoid clumps. Toasting the brioche buns enhances texture and prevents sogginess. Adjusting garnish amounts lets you control freshness and crunch.
