The Best Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies
Description
The recipe starts by carefully browning butter until it turns golden, which adds depth and complexity to the cookie flavor. After cooling, this brown butter is creamed with brown and granulated sugars until fluffy, then eggs and vanilla are mixed in. Dry ingredients—flour, baking soda, and salt—are whisked separately and incorporated gently to avoid overmixing.
Chocolate chips are folded in before the dough is portioned into rounded teaspoons and placed on parchment-lined baking sheets. A sprinkle of sea salt on top balances the sweetness and highlights the browned butter and chocolate.
Baking at 350°F for 10–12 minutes yields cookies with crisp edges and tender centers. The recipe allows using any preferred chocolate chip variation. Cooling slightly before removing from baking sheets helps maintain shape and texture.
