The Best Fried Rice
Description
This recipe starts by sautéing frozen peas and diced carrots in neutral oil, then pushing them to one side of the pan to cook whisked egg briefly before scrambling it into the vegetables. Cooked rice is then added along with soy sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, and optional ground ginger. Stir-frying over medium heat allows the rice to brown slightly and absorb the seasonings. Green onions are stirred in at the end to add a fresh note. The dish is served warm and can accompany a variety of Asian-inspired meals.
The combination of spices and soy sauce provides a savory and mildly spicy foundation, while the scrambled egg gives a soft, tender texture contrasting with the rice's slight crispness from thorough frying.
Leftovers reheat well in either the microwave or on the stove, remaining moist yet firm when properly stored in an airtight container for up to five days.
