Triple Chocolate Cookies
Description
Butter and sugars are creamed until light, then eggs and vanilla are blended in for moisture and flavor. Cocoa powder combined with flour and baking soda forms the chocolate base, with chocolate chips adding extra bursts. Dough is scooped, formed into balls, and pressed around milk chocolate squares to enclose them, creating a molten center upon baking.
Baking at 350 degrees solidifies the edges while keeping the interior soft, and letting cookies cool fully before removing helps maintain their shape. If dough is too soft, chilling for 30 minutes firms it for easier rolling. The varying size of chocolate pieces and cookies allows customization of yield.
These cookies suit chocolate lovers seeking a rich treat with contrasting textures. Proper storage up to three days helps keep freshness but is generally unnecessary due to high appeal.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter unsalted
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2/3 cup cocoa powder unsweetened
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 3/4 cup chocolate chips
- 15 quares milk chocolate candy Dove, Godiva or Lindt
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add egg and vanilla extract and mix until smooth.
- Add cocoa powder, flour, baking soda and mix until just combined.
- Stir in chocolate chips.
- Scoop out small portions of cookie dough and roll into balls. Flatten each ball and place a chocolate square in the center. Roll the cookie dough around the chocolate and form a ball.
- Place these cookie dough balls on a cookie tray lined with parchment paper.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 12-14 minutes or until the edges are firm.
- Allow the cookies to cool down completely before removing them from the pan. Enjoy!
Notes
- If dough feels too soft to shape, refrigerate it for 30 minutes to firm up before forming cookies.
- Store leftover cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
- Cookie yield depends on size and chocolate square size; this recipe made 15 large cookies using Dove chocolate.
