Triple Citrus Margarita
Description
This margarita recipe mixes fresh-squeezed orange, lime, and lemon juices with tequila and triple sec, producing a complex citrus flavor that goes beyond the traditional lime-only margarita. The method includes an optional step to salt the glass rim, enhancing the citrus brightness and adding a contrasting savory note.
The drink is shaken gently with ice to chill and slightly dilute the cocktail, then strained into ice-filled glasses to keep it cold. Classic garnishes like lime or orange wedges may be added for presentation and extra aroma.
This cocktail suits occasions where a tangier, more layered citrus margarita is desired. The recipe notes suggest easily increasing the quantity for multiple servings.
Ingredients
- 2 Tablespoon sea salt optional, for a salted rim, coarse, or kosher salt
- 2 oz. triple sec
- 3 oz. tequila
- 2 oz. orange juice fresh
- 2 oz. lime juice fresh
- 1 oz. lemon juice fresh
- ice
Instructions
- Optional salted rim: run a lime wedge around the rim of two lowball glasses or margarita glasses. Place the salt on a small plate or low bowl and dip the rim in the coarse salt, gently turning to coat evenly. Set aside.
- Fill a cocktail shaker approximately halfway full with ice. Pour in the tequila and triple sec, then add in the fruit juices. Cover, and gently shake.
- Fill the two salt-rimmed glasses with ice. Then, strain out the liquid evenly between the two glasses. Serve with lime and/or orange wedges as desired.
Notes
- Salt the rim by running a lime wedge around the glass and dipping into coarse salt for added flavor contrast.
- This recipe can be doubled or tripled to serve a larger group.
