Turkish Chicken Breasts - Recipe
Description
This recipe for Turkish Chicken Breasts involves slicing whole chicken breasts horizontally to create two even fillets that cook evenly and stay moist. They are marinated in olive oil combined with a Turkish seasoning blend, which imparts a specific blend of herbs and spices characteristic of Turkish flavors. The marination time ranges from 30 minutes to 24 hours, allowing the chicken to absorb the seasoning well.
The cooking method uses a heavy-based frying pan over medium-high heat, cooking the chicken fillets for 4 minutes on one side before flipping for an additional 3 to 4 minutes until fully cooked. This method creates a nicely seared exterior while keeping the inside tender. Garnishes like sesame seeds and fresh parsley may be added for texture and brightness.
The straightforward approach makes this chicken suitable as a main dish served alongside rice, salad, or vegetables. The spice blend and olive oil marinade contribute to a well-rounded flavor profile without overwhelming complexity.
Ingredients
- 2 chicken breast
- ¼ cup olive oil
- 3 tablespoon Turkish seasoning
Optional Garnish
- sesame seeds
- parsley fresh
Instructions
Start by Filleting the Chicken
- Pat the chicken breast dry to stop it sliding about the board.
- Lay the chicken breast flat on a chopping board.
- Use a large sharp knife to cut sideways through the breast.
- Continue to cut through the chicken breast, keeping the knife flat and parallel to the chopping board.
- Carefully cut through until you have two plump fillets.
- If you find they are not an even thickness, you can use a meat mallet (or a heavy pan) to bash the plumper end down.
Marinate the chicken
- Pour the olive oil into a non-metallic dish and mix in the Turkish seasoning.
- Once well combined, add the four chicken fillets.
- Marinate for at least 30 minutes and up to 24 hours.
To cook the chicken
- Place a heavy-based frying pan or skillet over medium-high heat.
- Remove the chicken from the marinade and cook on one side without moving for 4 minutes.
- Flip the chicken and cook for a further 3-4 minutes until cooked through.
