Description
This smoothie mixes milk kefir or coconut milk kefir with turmeric powder, a pinch of black pepper to enhance absorption of turmeric's compounds, and maple syrup to balance the flavors. Ice cubes can be added for a chilled, refreshing drink. The ingredients are blended until smooth, creating a creamy beverage with a mild spice and tang from the fermented kefir.
The combination highlights turmeric’s earthy aroma and color, tempered by the slight sweetness of syrup and the acidity of kefir. The smoothie is intended to be consumed immediately for freshness but can be stored in the refrigerator for two to three days.
To prevent staining, rinse the blender immediately after use and avoid serving in plastic cups, as the turmeric can stain surfaces.
Ingredients
- 1 cup milk kefir or coconut milk kefir
- 1 teaspoon maple syrup or honey, to taste
- ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
- black pepper pinch
- 4 ice optional, cubes
Instructions
- Blend all ingredients in a blender until smooth. Taste, and add more sweetener if desired.
- Pour smoothie into glass cups, and drink immediately.
- Leftovers / Make Ahead: Smoothies can be stored in the fridge for 2-3 days.
