Turnip Fries Air Fryer

Turnip Fries Air Fryer offers a low-carb alternative to traditional fries using peeled and cut turnips tossed in olive oil and spices like paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Air frying crisps the fries to a golden brown while maintaining a tender interior, making them a satisfying vegetable side or snack that cooks faster than baked versions.

Description

This recipe prepares turnip fries by peeling and cutting the turnips into evenly sized ½ inch fries. They are seasoned with olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper for a flavorful coating. The fries are air fried at 180°C (350°F) in a single layer to ensure even crisping. Cooking proceeds in two stages, first 8 minutes then shaking or flipping, followed by an additional 5 to 7 minutes to achieve browned and cooked fries.

The resulting fries have a crispy exterior and tender interior, with the seasoning adding subtle smoky and savory notes. Turnips provide a firmer texture than potatoes, and air frying reduces oil use compared to deep frying. The recipe yields four portions, each about half a cup, and is suited to anyone managing carbohydrate intake.

The fries are best served immediately as they soften over time. Leftovers can be reheated in the oven or air fryer to restore crispness. Optional add-ons like cayenne or keto mayonnaise and sugar-free ketchup can enhance flavor depending on preference. The method emphasizes even sizing and drying of fries for optimal results.
