Vanilla Wafers Recipe

Vanilla Wafers are crisp, thin cookies flavored with vanilla and lightly sweetened. The dough is creamed before adding dry ingredients, chilled briefly, then baked until golden with edges slightly browned. These wafers have a delicate texture and subtle vanilla aroma, suitable for snacking or use in desserts.

Description

This Vanilla Wafers recipe starts with creaming room-temperature butter and sugars, creating a light base before mixing in egg, vanilla extract, and milk for moisture and flavor. Dry ingredients including flour, baking powder, and salt are sifted and integrated into the wet mixture to form a smooth dough. Chilling the dough briefly firms it for easier handling and better baking results.

The dough is portioned as small dollops spaced on a parchment-lined cookie sheet and baked at 350°F. The wafers develop a light golden color with slightly crisp edges and a tender center. The prominent vanilla extract enhances their aromatic profile without overpowering.

These cookies can be enjoyed plain or used as a component in layered desserts, providing a subtle sweet crunch.
