Vegan Wonton Soup
Description
The filling is made by finely chopping fresh vegetables and crumbled tofu blended with five spice powder, white pepper, garlic, ginger, and dark soy sauce. This mixture is wrapped in wonton wrappers and shaped carefully to seal the filling inside. The wontons are cooked in a broth made from vegetable stock, scallions, soy sauce, sesame oil, and light seasoning, simmering to merge flavors.
The soup offers a comforting balance between tender wontons and the clear, savory broth enriched with sesame oil and fresh scallions. The mix of fresh vegetables and tofu provides texture within each dumpling, contrasted by the aromatic broth.
This soup works well as a light starter or a simple main dish. Preparing wontons ahead of time and freezing them is possible for convenience.
