Walking Taco
Description
This Walking Taco recipe starts by browning pound of ground beef with diced onions before simmering with taco seasoning and a little water to develop flavor and moisture. The seasoned beef mixture is then spooned into crushed single-serving bags of Fritos or Doritos, making the dish highly portable and convenient to eat with a fork. The chips act as a taco shell substitute that adds crispness and salty crunch.
Toppings such as black beans, lettuce, tomato, shredded cheese, sour cream, salsa, and guacamole can be added as desired to create a layered flavor experience, combining savory, fresh, creamy, and spicy elements. This method turns standard walking snack chips into a filling taco-style meal that's easy to customize based on preferences or supplies on hand.
The recipe suggests you can mix beans with the meat and keep the mixture warm in a slow cooker for serving, which works well for casual gatherings or parties. The flexibility and hand-held format make Walking Taco a practical, flavorful option for quick meals or game day food.
