Walking Tacos

Walking Tacos combine seasoned ground beef with crushed Doritos chips directly in their bags for a casual, handheld meal. The method layers taco meat, cheese, lettuce, salsa, and other toppings inside individual chip bags, creating a portable and customizable taco experience. The crunchy Doritos add flavor and texture to the seasoned meat and toppings, making it a fun departure from traditional tacos served in shells or tortillas.

Description

Walking Tacos use small bags of Doritos as an edible container, filled with seasoned ground beef cooked with taco seasoning and water. The beef is cooked until thickened, then spooned into the slightly crushed chip bags. Optional toppings such as diced tomatoes, shredded Mexican cheese, sour cream, salsa, shredded lettuce, and avocado or guacamole are added to each bag for extra flavor and texture. The combination retains the crispness of the chips while mixing well with the seasoned meat and fresh additions.

This handheld snack or meal is convenient for casual eating, outdoor events, or quick lunches without the need for plates or utensils beyond a fork. It allows each person to customize their own serving with the preferred toppings and chip flavor.

Tips include using any Doritos flavor or similar corn chips according to preference, and cooking the meat ahead of time for ease. Calculating at least a quarter cup of taco meat per chip bag ensures satisfying portions. Mixing the ingredients gently in the bag distributes flavors without breaking all the chips.
