Ingredients

Servings

Watermelon Margarita On The Rocks

  • 3 cups watermelon cubed
  • 1/4 cup tequila (gold or silver)
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice

Frozen Watermelon Margarita

  • 3 cups watermelon frozen cubed
  • 1/4 cup tequila (gold or silver)
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 1 cup ice cubes

For Serving

  • lime for rimming glass, wedges
  • kosher salt for rimming glass, or flaky salt
  • tajin seasoning for rimming glass, or chili powder

Instructions

Watermelon Margarita On The Rocks

  1. Run a lime wedge around the rim of two glasses. Dip the edges of the glasses in salt and tajin or chili powder.
  2. Add watermelon, tequila, and lime juice to a blender. Blend until smooth.
  3. Fill glasses with ice and pour watermelon margarita mixture over ice. Garnish with lime wedges and serve immediately.

Frozen Watermelon Margaritas

  1. Cut the watermelon into cubes and then place them in a single layer onto a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Place in the freezer for 6 hours or over overnight. Transfer frozen watermelon to a large freezer bag for easy storage until ready to use.
  2. Run a lime wedge around the rim of two glasses. Dip the edges of the glasses in salt and tajin or chili powder.
  3. Add frozen watermelon, tequila, lime juice, and ice to a blender. Blend until slushy.
  4. Pour into prepared glasses. Garnish with lime wedges and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Make sure to get a ripe watermelon to ensure the fruit is juicy and sweet! Here's a great article with tips on how to pick a good watermelon.
  • You can use gold or silver tequila. I personally prefer the taste of gold or anejo tequila in this recipe because it compliments the refreshing watermelon very well, but silver or blanco tequila also works!
