Whipped Cream

Homemade Whipped Cream is made by chilling equipment and whipping heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form. The result is light, fluffy cream suitable as a topping for desserts or beverages. It can be stored in the refrigerator for a few days or frozen for longer preservation.

Description

This Whipped Cream recipe starts by chilling the mixing bowl and beaters to help the cream whip more efficiently. Heavy whipping cream is combined with powdered sugar and vanilla extract, then whipped from low to medium-high speed until soft peaks develop. The texture is airy with a smooth consistency and a subtly sweet vanilla flavor.

The whipped cream works well as a topping for desserts like pies, cakes, or hot beverages. It can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 days. To extend its shelf life, the whipped cream can be frozen by portioning into dollops on parchment paper, freezing until solid, and then storing in airtight containers for up to two months.

This freezing method allows for convenient individual servings for garnishing hot drinks or desserts without thawing the entire batch at once.
