  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 large egg
  • 2 large egg yolk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk whole

Chocolate Frosting:

  • 1 cup butter softened, unsalted
  • 2 1/4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened baking cocoa
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and spray a 9x13 baking pan with baking spray.
  2. To stand mixer, add butter and sugar on medium speed until light and fluffy, 1-2 minutes.
  3. Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt in a medium bowl.
  4. Add in the eggs and egg yolks one at a time, then add the vanilla extract.
  5. Alternate adding in the milk and the flour mixture, until just combined.
  6. Spread into baking pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, until lightly browned and cooked through.
  7. In a clean stand mixer cream together butter, powdered sugar, cocoa powder, milk and vanilla.
  8. Mix on the lowest setting until just mixed together, then raise speed to medium high until light and fluffy, about 1-2 minutes.
  9. Wait until cake has cooled before frosting.
