15 Minute Noodle Bowls
Description
The recipe for 15 Minute Noodle Bowls calls for stir-frying diced onion and sliced mushrooms in olive oil, followed by adding carrots, broccoli, miso paste, and boiling water to create a flavorful broth. After simmering briefly, udon noodles, chili oil, garlic and ginger pastes, soy sauce, pak choi, and frozen edamame are incorporated and cooked together. This method yields noodles and vegetables infused with a savory, mildly spicy miso broth.
The vegetables add varied textures: tender broccoli florets, crisp carrot matchsticks, and soft pak choi leaves. The umami depth comes from the miso paste and soy sauce, while garlic, ginger, and chili oil contribute aromatic spices and warmth. The edamame adds protein and a pleasant bite, rounding out the bowl.
This dish serves well as a quick lunch or dinner and can be customized with toppings like crushed nuts for added crunch or a squeeze of lime to brighten flavors. The recipe is designed for speed without compromising a balanced mix of textures and tastes.
For added flavor and texture, crushed cashews or peanuts can be sprinkled on top before serving, and additional chili oil may be drizzled for more heat. Reduced sodium soy sauce can be used to control saltiness, and a squeeze of lime juice right before eating can enhance freshness, especially if reheated later.
