Ingredients

Servings
  • 3 large microwaved plantains About 835 grams
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • ½ teaspoon salt or more to taste
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • ½ cup bone broth or more if needed slightly warmed up

Instructions

  1. With a fork or potato masher, crush the microwaved and peeled plantains while still fairly hot in a medium-sized bowl.
  2. Start mashing, and halfway through, stir in the rest of the ingredients. Continue to mash until all the ingredients are well absorbed. Add a splash of extra bone broth to get the desired consistency. Taste test and add more salt, if desired.

Notes

  • Helpful Tips:
  • Get my tips on how to microwave a plantain.
  • Bone broth: For added depth, opt for a high-quality bone broth or make your own at home. A large pot of bone broth can be a great staple in the kitchen for several recipes, like making my Warm Spiced Bone Broth Hot Chocolate or Sweet Purple Bone Broth Soup With Turmeric!
  • Adjust Seasoning: Based on preference, you might like to add more salt, garlic, olive oil, or even more onion powder. Always taste test and adjust to your liking. If it's the first time making this mashed plantains recipe, use my recommended amounts in the recipe card and then adjust from there.
