30 Minute Dinner Rolls

Report
These dinner rolls develop a soft, fluffy crumb with a golden crust in just 30 minutes. The dough uses warm water, vegetable oil, sugar, yeast, and eggs for richness, then is quickly kneaded and shaped into rolls that rise briefly before baking. The result is a tender roll suitable for dinner or sandwiches when time is limited.

Description

The 30 Minute Dinner Rolls recipe relies on activating yeast in warm water with sugar, combined with oil, eggs, and flour to create a soft dough. After kneading until smooth, the dough is divided into 12 balls, placed closely in a pan, and allowed to rest briefly, enabling a quick rise. Baking at 400°F for 10–15 minutes yields a light golden crust with a soft inside. The quick rise and short baking time make these rolls a convenient choice for when fresh bread is desired on short notice.

The rolls deliver a mild, slightly sweet flavor and a tender texture from the oil and egg enrichment, making them versatile for many meal pairings. They can be served warm with butter or used for sandwiches, complementing soups or salads well.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 cup water warm
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 Tbsp yeast
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1 Tbsp butter softened at room temperature
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 Tbsp butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the 1 cup warm water, oil, sugar, and yeast. Let sit until the yeast is bubbly (approximately 10-15 minutes). Then stir in the beaten egg, softened butter and salt.
  3. With a stand mixer with a dough hook or by hand, add in the flour, 1/2 cup at a time until you have a soft dough that isn’t sticky (If your dough is still sticky after all the flour has been added then add in more flour 1 Tbsp at a time until the dough is no longer sticky).  Then knead by hand 10 minutes or 5 minutes with a stand mixer.
  4. Form the dough into 12 balls (I spray my hands with non stick spray so the dough does not stick to my hands when forming the balls). Place in a greased 9X13 pan and cover with parchment paper and a kitchen towel.
  5. Let the dough rest and rise for approximately 10 minutes.
  6. Bake for 10-15 minutes or just until browned.
