5 Mins Lemon Butter Sauce — 3 Ways
Description
This sauce starts by melting cubed salted butter in a saucepan over medium heat, chosen light-colored to monitor the butter and prevent burning. Fresh lemon juice and chopped herbs like parsley and cilantro are added along with freshly ground black pepper. The mixture is gently simmered for a few minutes, then removed from heat to retain delicate flavors.
Two additional variations are made by incorporating either garlic purée for a mild savory punch in the Lemon Garlic Butter Sauce, or red pepper flakes to introduce a subtle heat in the Lemon Chili Butter Sauce. The sauce is intended to be served warm, complementing dishes like chicken, fish, pasta, or vegetables with its citrusy and buttery base and fresh herb aroma.
The sauce can be easily adjusted in quantity, halving or doubling as needed. Substitutions with dried herbs are possible, but fresh herbs are suggested for optimal flavor. The juice amount can be increased to intensify the lemon brightness. The sauce benefits from stirring just before serving as lemon and herbs may settle.
