5-Minute Pink Salad

5-Minute Pink Salad is a creamy, fruity dish combining sweetened condensed milk with cherry pie filling, crushed pineapple, and whipped topping. The salad offers a light, fluffy texture and a sweet-tart flavor interplay from the cherries and pineapple. It is designed for quick preparation and chilled serving, suitable as a dessert or side dish.

Description

This Pink Salad mixes drained pineapple and cherry pie filling with sweetened condensed milk and folds in whipped topping to create a creamy, airy texture. Each fruit ingredient adds sweetness and juiciness, while the whipped topping lightens the mixture. The salad is chilled before serving to allow flavors to meld and to maintain a fresh, cool presentation.

The preparation emphasizes thorough draining of pineapple to avoid watery consistency and the importance of fully thawed whipped topping for proper folding. This salad requires no cooking and assembles quickly, making it convenient for gatherings or simple meals.

It serves well chilled as a sweet complement to a main course or on its own as a dessert. Variations can lighten the salad using sugar-free or light ingredients to reduce sweetness and calorie content while maintaining the creamy structure.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 (14 ounce) sweetened condensed milk any type; fat free used
  • 1 (21 ounce) cherry pie filling canned
  • 1 (20 ounce) crushed pineapple well drained, canned
  • 1 (8 ounce) whipped topping frozen, thawed; Sugar Free Cool Whip used

Instructions

  1. Make sure that your whipped topping is completely thawed (by placing it in the refrigerator overnight). Also make sure that your pineapple is very well drained. I like to put the pineapple in a mesh colander and then squeeze it dry with a towel.
  2. In a large bowl, stir together condensed milk, cherry pie filling, and drained crushed pineapple. Gently fold in the whipped topping just until combined.
  3. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Notes

  • Ensure the whipped topping is completely thawed before folding to maintain proper texture.
  • Drain the crushed pineapple thoroughly to prevent excess liquid that can make the salad watery.
  • This salad keeps well in the refrigerator for up to three days when covered.
  • For a lighter version, substitute with sugar-free or lite whipped topping and condensed milk, and use lite cherry pie filling.
