7 Layer Dip

Seven distinct layers combine to create a classic 7 Layer Dip featuring refried beans, sour cream, guacamole, salsa or pico de gallo, shredded cheddar cheese, sliced olives, and green onions. The assembled dip has a creamy, savory, and tangy profile with contrasting textures that make it ideal for serving with tortilla chips.

Description

The 7 Layer Dip assembles a variety of dips and toppings in layered order to create a visually appealing and flavorful appetizer or party snack. The base begins with a layer of refried beans, forming a thick, hearty foundation. Sour cream adds a smooth, cooling layer, followed by creamy guacamole. Salsa or fresh pico de gallo adds zesty tang and moisture. Shredded cheddar cheese provides a sharp, melty texture, topped with sliced olives for briny notes, and sliced green onions for mild pungency.

The layering preserves the distinct flavors of each component while allowing them to mingle when eaten with tortilla chips. The dip can be served immediately or chilled up to eight hours to meld flavors.

This dip is commonly served as part of casual gatherings, game days, or potlucks where a shareable, multi-flavored dip is desired. Optional diced tomatoes can garnish the top for added freshness and color.
