7 Layer Salad Recipe

7 Layer Salad assembles crisp romaine lettuce, grape tomatoes, green peas, broccoli, shredded cheddar cheese, and crumbled bacon layered under a mayonnaise-based dressing sweetened with sugar and balanced with vinegar. The salad offers a mix of fresh vegetables, creamy dressing, and savory toppings, suitable for side dishes or potlucks.

Description

The 7 Layer Salad layers fresh romaine lettuce at the base, topped in sequence with halved grape tomatoes, thawed green peas, chopped broccoli, shredded cheddar cheese, and crispy crumbled bacon. A dressing made by whisking reduced-fat mayonnaise with sugar and vinegar is spread over the layers along with more shredded cheese and bacon crumbles for texture and flavor contrast.

The salad combines crunchy vegetables with a creamy, tangy-sweet dressing. The layering provides visual appeal and varied mouthfeel in each serving. Preparation requires ingredient chopping and layering without cooking beyond crisping bacon.

This salad works well as a picnic or potluck dish, providing fresh and rich elements. Optional green onions can add mild sharpness if desired. Refrigerating before serving helps meld flavors.
