Air Fried Green Beans
Description
Air Fried Green Beans offers a crunchy and flavorful way to enjoy fresh green beans without heavy frying. The preparation involves coating each green bean with flour, then dipping in beaten eggs, followed by rolling in a mixture of panko breadcrumbs, salt, and paprika for a mild smoky seasoning. Cooking them in the air fryer at 375°F for around 8 minutes crisps the coating while maintaining the beans' crunch. The recipe allows a slight adjustment to higher heat for a darker crust.
The texture achieved by this method is notably crispy on the outside and tender inside, owing to the coating and cooking process. The use of panko breadcrumbs adds an airy crunch distinct from regular breadcrumbs. Spraying the coated beans with olive oil spray before air frying encourages browning and prevents dryness.
These green beans are best served immediately while hot to preserve crispness. The recipe suggests dipping them in Ranch dressing, enhancing their mild spiced flavor. They make a good side dish or snack when a crispy vegetable option is desired.
A recommended approach for larger batches or faster preparation is the "shake and bake" method outlined in the original notes, which can speed up coating. Keeping the beans slightly moist but not wet before coating helps the breading stick properly without sogginess.
Ingredients
- 1 pound Green bean fresh
- 1/2 cup flour
- 2 egg
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- olive oil spray (to taste)
Instructions
- Rinse green beans and snap off the stems. Lightly shake off excess water (they don't need to be totally dry)
- Prepare 3 bowls to dip the beans in. The first with 1 cup of flour, the second with the 2 beaten eggs, and the third with Panko breadcrumbs, salt, and paprika mixed together.
- Dredge each individual bean with flour and shake off excess.
- Next, dip the bean in the beaten egg.
- Then roll in the breadcrumb mixture until well coated.
- Place the coated green beans in the bottom of the air fryer basket in a single layer. Spray generously with cooking oil spray or olive oil cooking spray.
- Air fry for 8 minutes at 375 degrees. If you want a darker coating, cook an additional minute or two at 400 degrees.
- Serve immediately. They are by far the best when they are served hot.
Notes
- For larger quantities or faster coating, you can use the "shake and bake" technique described in the recipe notes.
- Serve the green beans immediately after air frying to maintain their crispy texture.
- These green beans are delicious when dipped into Ranch dressing or another preferred dip.
