Air Fryer Asparagus
Description
Starting with thoroughly rinsed and dried asparagus, the tough woody ends are snapped off each spear before seasoning with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Cooking in an air fryer at 400°F allows the asparagus to roast evenly while retaining a tender yet firm texture. Thinner stalks need around 6 minutes, whereas thicker ones may require up to 10 minutes to reach a lightly roasted, crisp-tender state.
This method results in asparagus that can accompany a variety of meals, offering a nutritious green vegetable side that requires little prep and cleanup. The roasting intensifies the natural sweetness and produces subtle caramelized notes without added complexity.
Because the cooking time depends on stalk thickness, checking asparagus for doneness toward the earlier time is recommended. Serve warm as a simple side with proteins or incorporate into salads or grain bowls.
Ingredients
- 1 pound asparagus
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- salt to taste
- black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Rinse asparagus and dry well. Holding the center and bottom of each spear, snap off the bottom and discard.
- Preheat air fryer to 400°F.
- Toss asparagus with olive oils and season with salt & pepper.
- Cook 6-10 minutes* or until tender-crisp and lightly roasted.
Notes
- Adjust cooking time based on asparagus thickness: thinner stalks take about 6 minutes, thicker ones up to 10 minutes.
- Ensure asparagus is well dried after rinsing to promote even roasting and crispness in the air fryer.
