Air Fryer Baby Carrots
Description
This recipe uses baby carrots coated in olive oil (or butter) and spices including garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. The carrots are cooked in a preheated air fryer at 380°F, shaking halfway through to ensure even cooking. The result is carrots that remain tender yet have some crispness from the air frying. The use of garlic powder instead of fresh garlic prevents burning during the high heat. Fresh parsley adds a bright, herbal note as a finishing touch. This approach allows for a convenient vegetable side that can be prepared with minimal hands-on time and clean-up.
The carrots can be served immediately but can be stored in airtight containers in the fridge for up to 4 days, and reheated either in the air fryer or microwave. Variations include adding soy sauce and sesame oil for an Asian twist, balsamic glaze, grated Parmesan cheese, or a cinnamon maple glaze replacing garlic powder for different flavor profiles.
Ingredients
- 1 lb. carrot baby, in bag
- 1 tablespoon olive oil extra-virgin or melted unsalted butter
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper ground
- parsley fresh, chopped, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your air fryer to 380°F and lightly grease the basket with non-stick olive oil spray.
- Pat the baby carrots dry with paper towels. This is important!
- Then toss the carrots in a mixing bowl with olive oil OR melted butter, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Add to preheated air fryer and air fry for a total of 10 - 12 minutes. Shake the basket at the 5-minute mark to ensure they are cooking evenly.
- Serve immediately garnished with a sprinkle of fresh parsley; enjoy!
Notes
- You can substitute olive oil with melted unsalted butter, avocado oil, or coconut oil for different flavors.
- Avoid fresh minced garlic as it may burn in the air fryer; garlic powder works better for even seasoning.
- Leftovers store well refrigerated up to 4 days and can be reheated in the air fryer or microwave.
- For variation, try adding soy sauce and sesame oil for an Asian flavor, balsamic glaze, freshly grated Parmesan, or a cinnamon maple glaze.
