Air Fryer Bagels

Air Fryer Bagels use a simple dough made from flour, baking powder, salt, and Greek yogurt shaped into rings. They cook quickly in the air fryer, yielding golden bagels with a slightly chewy texture. The option to top them with everything bagel seasoning adds classic savory flavor. This recipe offers an accessible way to bake bagels without yeast or boiling.

Description

This recipe starts by combining flour, baking powder, and salt, then mixing in plain nonfat Greek yogurt to form a dough. The dough is divided and rolled into ropes shaped into rings. An egg wash helps the everything bagel seasoning adhere to the surface. Cooking in the air fryer at 350°F for about 10-11 minutes creates a golden crust with a soft interior.

The air fryer’s dry heat cooks the bagels quickly and evenly, forming a lightly crispy crust without needing to boil. The dough’s yogurt content contributes to a tender crumb with moderate chewiness. Applying seasoning before cooking enhances flavor and texture.

Serving these bagels fresh with spreads or sandwich fillings is ideal. They keep well stored airtight for several days. Adjusting dough moisture with flour or yogurt as needed ensures workable consistency. For small air fryer baskets, batch cooking accommodates quantity.

Using parchment paper or a silicone baking mat prevents sticking. Cooling bagels before cutting helps maintain shape. Doubling the recipe is simple for larger batches.

  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 cups plain nonfat Greek yogurt 490g

Notes

  • Use parchment paper or a silicone mat in the air fryer basket to prevent sticking.
  • Leave adequate space between bagels for expansion; cook in batches if necessary.
  • Use Greek yogurt and drain any excess liquid to avoid soggy dough.
  • Adjust flour or yogurt to fix dough consistency if too wet or dry.
  • Store bagels in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
